In honor of the 43rd President of the United States (heh, heh, heh),
The Al Gore Cup is a forum for teams that finished second and most
likely feel that they're more deserving than all of the other
first-place teams to be in the championship bracket.
Teams are seeded 1-4 based on regular season records and play a
best-of-seven semifinal round followed by another seven game series to
crown the winner.
The winner receives a bonus of 1 million Benchwarmer Bucks.
The runner-up gets 500,000.
The 200x Entrants (in order of seeding):
Twin Cities (80-70) - Though never close to Boomer, this was the
highest finish ever for the team.
Philadelphia (79-71) - Division champions in the first two
years, it's a step down for the Firestarters
Liberty, MO (77-73) - A new owner for the team brought the same
result - a 2nd-place finish for the 3rd straight year. This
time, they just missed by a single game. Gore Cup Champ in
2006.
Team (72-78) - Another team able to post their highest finish
ever.
Semifinals - Team vs. Twin Cities; Liberty, MO vs. Philadelphia
Finals - Team vs. Philadelphia - Philadelphia won the season series
7-5
