The 2008 Benchwarmer Bash
Benchwarmer Baseball holds a final playoff
tournament each fall, taking all the league champions and - for now -
some wildcard teams and crowning a single champ for all of Benchwarmer
Baseball.
The format - as BWB continues to grow - will be in flux from season
to season. Leagues are now part of "associations" and
"federations" and there will be champs at each level that advance to
the final bash. However, the distribution of leagues at the
moment doesn't allow for these preliminary rounds.
In 2008, with 11 leagues, we use last year's changes
and play with them a little. We take the 11 league champs plus
10 wild
cards - the 10 non-championship teams with the highest
Power Index Numbers.
The 11 league champs automatically advance to the second round.
The 10 wild cards play each other to reduce the total field to 16.
We will then re-seed all 16 teams by Power Index.
